I Vlogged My Company’s Post-Christmas Party (2023)

I vlogged during my company’s Post-Christmas party back in January 2023. Yes, 2023 that is not a typo. It took me a long ass time to find the motivation to edit because, well, it’s not my job to edit vlogs. Anyway, here’s Parts 1 and 2 on YouTube (there’s a third part to the trip, but it was more of a personal side quest that I don’t want to half ass the editing with).

I’m Back!

It’s been two long ass years since I last posted anything on here. So much has changed, and yet things feel more or less the same. Whatever reasons I may have for ignoring this blog is moot, but I’m here to announce (not that it’s of any importance to anyone) that I am back and will once again try to be more consistent in posting stuff.

Support But Never Fully Trust Politicians

In Game of Thrones (RIP Dany), when Daenerys Targaryen asked Lord Varys where his loyalty lies given the latter’s propensity to betray the very kings he was supposed to serve, the Spymaster replied “My loyalty is to the people”. Varys is correct, especially when we view his words from a modern point of view. InContinueContinue reading “Support But Never Fully Trust Politicians”

The Past Was The Worst (Stop Romanticizing The Past)

I was always a sentimental person; that’s just one of the most fundamental facts about me. As I advanced in age, I became more inclined to follow the rational approach into things as opposed to letting feelings and emotions dictate my actions. But the more you think about it, the more you realize that the past was the absolute worst

Dark Thoughts For Dark Times # Holy Crap I Can’t Believe We’re Still Doing This After A Whole Year

When I first decided to write my pandemic thoughts around this time last year, I thought this series would only go on for a couple of weeks to a couple of months at most. Fast forward one year and this series is still relevant. Just the other day, the Philippines recorded a whopping 7999 COVID-19 cases – the highest number of daily cases since the pandemic was officially declared on March 11th, 2020.

Small Town Thinking

The point of all this is, I think I’ll write about all the typical bullshit mindset prevalent among the denizens of small towns. Also, just to clarify, I don’t intend this to be an indictment of how horrible rural people are. Obviously, the worst of our species reside in both rural and urban environments. It’s likely that more good-natured people with good intentions exist in these communities than the truly terrible ones. The issue here is the acceptance of problematic traits, and how they’re considered a normal way of life.

Social Media/Social Awareness

I personally know people who are in that upper middle-class/rich tier of society. Sometimes I see their tweets/posts denouncing the injustices done upon the working class, how the (other) rich elite tend to discriminate the poor. And I laud and agree with their point 90% of the time. I just find it amusing that they say this chilling in some fancy cafe eating expensive food, drinking pretentious coffee, sending out their thoughts to the internet via their expensive Mac Book or iPhone.

Being Extremely Loyal To One’s Alma Mater Confuses Me

The only conclusion I could come up with is that this phenomenon could be attributed to our inherent tribalistic nature. Also, nostalgia is a powerful drug. Even the most logical of people are not immune to the intoxicating taste of reliving the joys of the past. It can, when utilized properly, be a great fuel to serve your present. The past can also be an anchor that prevents you from moving to the future, so there’s that.
