Story Time: My Pump Up Music in College

One of my favorite songs ever is “Know Your Enemy” by Green Day (which was featured in this week’s Music Monday) off the California punk band’s 8th studio album 21st Century Breakdown. Released in April 2009 as the lead single of the aforementioned album, “Know Your Enemy”, much like most 21st Century Breakdown, had politicalContinueContinue reading “Story Time: My Pump Up Music in College”

Story Time: The Day The Jeep I Was In Almost Got Hit By Lighting

I guess the title says a lot about where this story is going, but yeah. It was around June 2013, I was on my way home from school at around 4-5 PM. Thunderstorms are frequent late in the day this time of the year in the Philippines as monsoon season is about to start. TheContinueContinue reading “Story Time: The Day The Jeep I Was In Almost Got Hit By Lighting”

Story Time: My First Time On A Zip Line

Back in 2013, I wrote about my Palawan trip (links here, here, and here). One of the places we visited was Ugong Rock, a cave/rock formation that was cool as hell. Anyway, the details are covered in one of those old posts, but to make the long story short, once the spelunking activity has endedContinueContinue reading “Story Time: My First Time On A Zip Line”

Story Time: My First Time Seeing A Mustang In Person

I’m not a big fan of cars (partly because I believe these gas-guzzling monstrosities will be the end of our planet), but I still remember my first time seeing a Mustang in person. It was pretty sweet. It looked slick and modern, and at the time, sports cars were a rarity on the streets ofContinueContinue reading “Story Time: My First Time Seeing A Mustang In Person”

Story Time: The Time Our Car Broke Down In A Place Where Aswangs Supposedly Reside

Aswangs, or at least tales about them, are a part of Filipino culture. These mythical creatures are humanoid in appearance with vampiric traits (i.e. undead, sucks blood, etc.) and are usually prevalent in rural areas (surprise, surprise). Whilst stories of aswang exist virtually everywhere, some places (such as Siquijor) are rich with anecdotes regarding aswang-relatedContinueContinue reading “Story Time: The Time Our Car Broke Down In A Place Where Aswangs Supposedly Reside”

Story Time: Brush With High Society Snobs

Back in September 2011, my Political Science class had a field trip in Metro Manila to visit the various locations where each branch of the government held their offices in (Malacañang, the Senate and House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court). That trip itself would make a fine story on its own, and let’s saveContinueContinue reading “Story Time: Brush With High Society Snobs”

Story Time: Listen To The Universe When It Whispers

Back in high school, my friends and I would frequent a computer shop in a back alley near UPV-Iloilo called Backyard.Com (or simply Backyard or BCOM for short). We were at BCOM everyday after school (never ~during~ school because that’s skipping classes and skipping classes is bad… stay in school kids), whether to play PCContinueContinue reading “Story Time: Listen To The Universe When It Whispers”

Story Time: Boy Long Hair

Being a dude with long hair has caused quite a number of hilarious interactions with other people. I’ve been mistaken for a woman way too many times for me to count. One of my favorite ones, though, was during a random evening when officemates and myself had dinner at a Korean convenience store in JCenterContinueContinue reading “Story Time: Boy Long Hair”

Story Time: The Day I Drank 10 Cups of Coffee

Coffee is an essential part of many peoples’ lives and I am no exception. It’s basically what’s coursing through my veins instead of blood. Of course, as with everything, there was a time when I was new to the whole caffeine experience and didn’t know much. My first coffee was in 2006, I was aContinueContinue reading “Story Time: The Day I Drank 10 Cups of Coffee”

Kennan The Storyteller

I’ve decided to share them on Silence Is The Enemy as part of my renewed efforts to keep the #content rolling.

These stories (which are of different lengths; some may be a paragraph long, others might require popcorn) will come at random (whenever they pop in my mind, which happens a lot, mind you), and won’t have a set weekly slot. To the very least, they will help ensure my whole “at least one post a week” thing doesn’t run dry.
