Dealing With COVID-19 After It Infected Family Members

I scheduled this post to publish today, September 24, 2021. It would’ve been my grandmother’s 85th birthday. She died of COVID-19 almost two months ago, on July 30th. It wasn’t just my grandmother who contracted COVID, though. July wasn’t too kind as my mother, her brother, and brother-in-law (in short, my uncles) were infected as well.I wanted to write this for a couple of reasons – to give closure to those nightmarish 5 weeks, and to remind whoever cares enough to read this to take COVID-19 seriously.

My Relationship With Sleep

Like I said in a previous post, I’ve been having a hard time sleeping for a couple of weeks so I tried taking melatonin. It was effective for sure, but I didn’t want to be dependent on anything on a supposed natural bodily function such as sleep. I weaned myself of the supplement after a week and I’ve managed to consistently get good (unaided) sleep since then.

It’s the oldest recipe that I’ve learned (okay, the true oldest is cheese omelette… omelet du fromage… but who doesn’t know how to make that?), all the way back to 2011. It’s also the dish thatContinueContinue reading “Kainan With Kinan Specialty: Chicken Adobo”

Remembering My First Panic Attack

Experiencing a panic attack first-hand gave me empathy to those who are plagued by mental disorders of various kinds.
Previously, I was aware that these things happen to a lot of people but couldn’t fully comprehend what made them so crippling. It was an eye opening experience for me, definitely.
I wanted to be honest and share this experience with everyone to spread awareness on mental health.

My Dehydration Experience

One of the freakiest things to happen to me was my little bout with dehydration on March 5th, 2013. It was an extremely hot day as summer was approaching. To make the long story short, I almost blacked out on the sidewalk along Quezon Street (near SM Delgado). Luckily for me, there was a sari-sariContinueContinue reading “My Dehydration Experience”
