Christmas is Here!!! (Unfortunately, COVID-19 is also still here)

It’s a well-known fact throughout the internet that Christmas in the Philippines begins at the start of “-Ber Months”. Well, today is September 1st, meaning Christmas szn is officially here!

To foreigners not accustomed to our Filipino ways, this might be weird but who gives a shite, I personally love Christmas (besides the commercialism that comes with it). Despite my constant snarking that almost every single of our modern Christmas traditions either are capitalist propaganda, or derived from aspects of ancient pagan celebrations (Saturnalia), I love them all — from the decorations, to the food, the singing and merry-making. It’s just fun. The season is fun. We need fun.

But also, we are still in the middle of the Coronapocalypse, so I don’t know how fun Christmas is gonna be this year. I mean, we’ll still have the food, and the singing and stuff, but the overall vibe isn’t going to be the same. That’s 2020 for you. Still, I am looking forward to all the online Christmas caroling. Hopefully, though, nobody forces facemask/faceshield on Santa aesthetic. We don’t need that.

Merry Christmas!!!
