This probably doesn’t need an intro since we all are literally experiencing the same COVID-19… uh… experience… in one form or another.
But for posterity’s sake and for the sake of future civilizations wishing to read up on the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020 (which I will refer to as the Corona-pocalypse from here on out), here is a quick summary:
On March 10, 2020, the World Health Organization declared that the COVID-19, a strain of the Coronavirus, has affected enough countries around the world for it to be called a pandemic.
Different countries had different approaches to combat the virus but the common denominator amongst the citizenry of the world is that people were quarantined inside their homes. The lenght of the quarantine differed from location to location.
In the Philippines, many cities have opted for a month-long quarantine that theoretically would end in mid-April.
Never in my lifetime have I seen the world put to a halt the way the Corona-pocalypse did. Streets are empty, grocery stores basically have nothing left to sell — stuff you only see in movies.
Being forcibly stuck at home can be maddening. Regardless of distractions in the form of work-from-home stuff, household chores, or Netflix and YouTube, the prospect of not seeing much of the outside world can and will be maddening.
I will be opening this space on my blog called Dark Thoughts For Dark Times. This is a place to put in my random quarantine thoughts — they don’t have to be about the COVID-19, just random thoughts that pop up during these dark times.
I guess that’s what blogs are for generally.
