As evidenced with my previous posts in a series called “Kainan With Kinan”, I am fascinated with cooking, or at least the notion or being able to cook certain dishes. I would never claim to be talented at it, but I’ve learned more than enough cooking skills to be able to feed myself — a valuable ability when you are living independently.
I, however, have never cooked for anyone beyond myself and family members, so I guess I couldn’t totally say if whatever the heck I whipped up legit tastes good (our selves are biased to what we come up with, and our family can be extremely patronizing).
Last month, as I celebrated my 26th birthday, I cooked chicken adobo and brought some for a friend when we had coffee at Monkey Grounds. She is a fan of food, so I trust her judgment aaaaand what she said made me happy lol. My friend said she liked my adobo, and objectively pointed out the reasons why she enjoyed eating it (I forgot to bring rice though 😂).
Does this mean I’m going to take cooking very seriously now? Probably not. This is enough to inspire me and continue learning more dishes, though. Thanks Poch!
