Now that I got your attention with some classic sOciAL mEDiA iNfLuEnCeR click-bait title, I didn’t really go to Venice, as in THE Venice in Italy. Rather, this post is about Venice Mall in Taguig City. I admit it is very unbecoming to post about a mall… I mean, it’s a mall, who cares? I’m inclined to agree with this 99% of the time, but Venice Mall is just different. For one, it has a freaking canal inside the mall itself complete with Italian gondolas.
I guess that makes for the bulk of the amazement factor Venice Mall has. The canal that weaves around the main complex is certainly unique amongst Philippine malls, and if you know a thing or two about me, you’d know I have a special appreciation for uncommon things. I guess most of us do. But this is about me, and as usual, I digress.
Anyway, one can pay PhP 500.00 for a ride in those gondolas. You can pay extra if you wish to have the boat to yourself, and a couple extra hundred more pesos for some wine because who doesn’t like to get inebriated near or in bodies of water, am I right? Everything else about the Venice Mall, though, is generic mall stuff — restaurants, shops, cinemas, etc. Again, the canal is everything here, without it, the mall is just meh. Oh, that and the cool Italian looking park at the back that reminds you of Renaissance-era piazzas where you can feed pigeons and all that good stuff.
Overall, it’s definitely a fun experience to be at Venice Mall, especially at night. The area surrounding the canal feels like an Italian night life scene, and to me it was pretty cool. I don’t know if this is because I’m not from Taguig and this is all a novelty to me. I’m not sure how locals would view this, since this is probably a daily experience for them. Maybe they’re still amazed by it because they’re not jaded pricks like me, who knows?
