If you get to know me well, you would know that many things interest me — some are full blown obsessions (basketball, comic books, videogames), while others are little things that pique my curiosity.
Knowing how to cook stuff is one of them, probably as a product of my desire to just know things as a “this may come in handy someday” tool.
Now, I don’t aspire to be Gordon Ramsay-good — greatness is something reserved for my true obsessions — I just want the ability to feed myself and maybe be worthy enough to satiate other people’s (food) hunger as well.
Having said all of that, I started this thing called #KainanWithKinan where I share the culinary masterpieces that I have whipped up. Again, this is merely a hobby and not something I wish to make a big deal out of. Note that this is not a recipe post, where I mention the ingredients and how to’s and all that. Think of this as a glorified #Foodstagram #FoodPorn post.

The first dish that I learned to do, and this was in 2013, was the adobo! This Filipino staple of meat (usually pork or chicken, although some of the truly mad ones have experimented on other form of meats) boiled in its marinade of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, onion, and other choice ingredients (the “choice ingredients” depend on the location your adobo is made since it has plenty of regional variants) is my favorite dish simply because of the tangy, salty flavor it comes with.
Adobo is the one non-fried dish that I can wholeheartedly say that I’ve mastered and will forever be my go-to food whenever someone asks me to cook for them (half of me hopes that never happens lol).
How about you? Whats your favorite dish to cook? Do you have anything for me to try and make? Let me know in the comments below ๐๐ผ!
